ISS astronauts in space toast
Singles toast to the astronauts on the International Space Station "Alpha". After having raised the glasses, in fact, the crew drank water obtained with the new plant to recycle the urine, "Water Recovery System." To realize the system, developed to increase the autonomy of personnel on board ships and in view of travel, long life were spent $ 250 million.
The "Water Recovery System" is actually operating at the second attempt. After an initial repair, five gallons of recycled water produced by the machine were in fact returned to Earth and analyzed in the laboratory before authorizing the NASA crew in toast.
The new system will double the number of astronauts manning, bringing to six and producing 6.8 tonnes of water a year. Thanks to this innovation will also be possible to experience one of the technologies needed for manned space missions, long-lasting as those laid down on Mars.
